District Park Voltamatte

Voltamatte is a public district park, which is used for many activities. At the center of the new Voltamatte is a big lawn for lingering and at the ast part under the oak trees, is a playground where toddlers find space for playing. A paved area connects the park with the buildings of the Robi playground in the south, which is surrounded by a transparent and green fencing mesh. The Robi forms with its distinctive corner buildings a small island on the edge of the park. The reddish-brown color of the façade of the pavilions harmonises with the seasonally changing colors of the park.

UKBB - University Children’s Hospital

Basel/Switzerland

The new children’s hospital is located in a central downtown location of Basel. Due to the urban setting and the geometry of the new building, the environment is subdivided into three different locations: the entrance area, the courtyard and the bicycle and motor parking spaces. Between the public use and the building, polygonal hedge bodies create a distance to the sensitive treatment rooms on the ground floor. The patients´ rooms are facing the courtyard. Evergreen, amorphous shrubs in the gravel turf enhance the lush appearance of the courtyard as a contrast to the urban environment. A shallow water basin reflects the trees and the discreet splashing breaks the monotonous traffic noise.
